JUDGES CUP
About our club

The Ridge Soccer Association was formed in 2004 to meet the needs of those interested in the growth of youth soccer in Eastern Polk County.  Soccer leaders in the Lake Wales area formed the league to help increase the abilities of youth who desire to improve their skills.  Recreational leagues were the only option for players until 2008 when we began our competitive leagues. At the grand opening of our new complex in August 2008, we revealed our new and current name Lake Wales Soccer Club.

Lake Wales Soccer Club is a member of Florida Youth Soccer Association FYSA.

History of our club

Ridge Soccer Association was formed in the year 2004 to allow Lake
Wales kids playing in the Bartow Peace River League an avenue to have
home games. This first season there were 230+ kids who were a part of
our league. Home games were played at East Central Park in Dundee.
Due to the 3 hurricanes and many county parks being closed, the season
opened with games played at McLaughlin Middle School and Webber
International.

Inaugural Board of Directors were: Robbie Shields President, Tony Mathewson Vice President, Andrew Hunt Treasurer, Robert Kirkner Secretary, Terri Turnbull Referee Assignor, Jack Dykxhoorn, Jerry Miller, and Butch Nichols.

In addition to beginning the league the board worked in conjunction with the community, city, and county local government agencies to build a multipurpose/soccer complex taking steps to have 4 full length soccer fields in Lake Wales. A $200,000 FRDAP grant from the state, $400,000 from the Board of County Commissioners, many business leaders have helped through donations of in kind commitments and a 20 acre land donation from Feltrim Developments allowed all the hard work to become a reality. Ground breaking for the complex was on June 21, 2005, grand opening was August 16, 2008.  Local citizens and businesses are committed to continuing to grow this dream each year. The City of Lake Wales has been from the first day and continues to maintain the fields for the league and Breakfast Rotary of Lake Wales fundraising for the concession stand building construction have all contributed to make this a complex a beautiful addition to Lake Wales.
