Coaches & Parents,
First and foremost I wanted to thank each and every one of you for coaching and allowing your child to participate this fall. Considering everything 2020 has thrown at us each of you have done an incredible job of making this very "fluid" season happen. Now for an update on future happenings related to our league.
Generally, for ages U10 and up we play in a county wide tournament at the end of the Fall season but unfortunately, we don't think that will happen this year. Between several leagues announcing that they were unable to participate, lack of sites with the ability to host, lack of commitment to participate, and the increase of COVID cases affecting teams, we just don't think it makes sense to move forward with Judges Cup this year. Historically, when all leagues participate, we can create brackets that allow each level of team to play against like teams, which makes for a great tournament, but with all the factors mentioned above (especially leagues not participating at all) that would not be the case this year.
Having said that, we are planning on participating in All-Stars this year. Each year we ask each of you to nominate the players off your team that play at a level that would qualify them to be on an All-Star team. These teams range from U8 to U15. LWSC has historically entered in at least one boy and girl team from each age group. Please give some thoughts as to which players should be nominated, and equally as important would be, whether or not you would be interested in coaching an All-Star team. if you are interested please let me know in person or via email if possible. This tournament will take place in Auburndale at the Lake Myrtle Park fields starting January 28-31st.
I hope you all had a great season and wish you all a great upcoming holiday season! Thanks, Tony.
